Set on a lakefront within a tourist destination, the Conan Property in Daejeon, South Korea is certainly a contemporary dream property spectacle. And an ultra-cool one particular at that. Developed by cheeky architect Moon Hoon, this sculptural vertical pod entrances with a an industrial, but serene vibe.
This cube-like residence was constructed for a young loved ones whose one particular primary requirement was to have ample exhibition space for their increasing miniature robot collection. The contemporary white dwelling just over 1,100 square feet is ridden with a series of external recesses. Additional innovation lies within the internal formation of stacked trapezoidal planes which are rooted around the core stairwell ascending all six floors. Jagged and angular windows viewing the water and mountains are placed on each and every face of the polygonal exterior so as to draw bright light in from the ground floor to attic space, which is exactly where this stairway reaches.
From the outdoors, the whimsical structure calls for a double-take, with sheared corners and a bold red entry door–triangular and dimensional–that is covert however welcoming. As soon as inside, though, this is where the minimalist magic starts. Wood floors and white walls are the steady aesthetic of all living regions which includes the two-tiered modular library, home office, dining zone, kitchen, master bedroom, child’s bedroom and play space. A geometric white railing grid acts as a screen among the spiraling staircase and the central void created by it.
With a restrained palette coupled with sparse furnishings, (a nod to Korean tradition), this house, aptly nicknamed “Play Property,” characteristics distinctive square-shaped displays for the robotic figurines, as nicely as a two-story, cherry-red slide in the attic play location which shines with a sunny yellow ceiling. Energy-effective fluorescent lighting strips portray a sleek style element while illuminating the interior spaces.
The Conan House is a contemporary dream residence, a convex stacked box brimming with functionalism and a playful energy for all who inhabit it.
